Missions & Goals

We’re excited to share our mission, values, and the heart behind what we do. Below, you’ll find what we stand for and our goals for creating a kinder, more compassionate future.

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to provide a loving, compassionate home to animals in need with their health, safety, and happiness as our top priority. In turn, their unconditional love provides therapeutic benefits for those in need mentally, emotionally, and spiritually — with no judgment.

At Nichelem Animal Sanctuary, we envision a world where animals are treated with respect and compassion, and where humans and animals can heal, grow, and thrive together.

Animal Rescue & Advocacy

We are dedicated to rescuing animals from abuse, neglect, and dangerous situations. Our focus includes:

  • Senior, disabled, and special-needs animals

  • Pit bulls and other misunderstood breeds

  • Animals from puppy mills, shelters, or heading to slaughter

  • Animals surrendered due to an owner’s passing or inability to continue care

  • Equine in need of rehabilitation

  • Wildlife and exotic animals (as our programs grow)

We advocate for all animals and support:

  • Ending animal testing and cruelty in labs

  • Stopping fur farming and related markets

  • Promoting cruelty-free products

  • Promoting spay and neuter programs to reduce overpopulation

Enviornmental Stewardship

We believe caring for animals also means caring for the planet we share. Protecting nature and wildlife is an essential part of our mission and values.

We Promote and Support:

  •  Sustainable practices – Encouraging recycling, reducing waste, and making environmentally conscious choices everyday.

  • Wildlife and habitat protection – Preserving natural areas on our property as safe spaces for native wildlife to live freely and undisturbed.

  • Conservation advocacy – Standing up for the protection of ecosystems, native species, and the preservation of natural resources.

By fostering respect for the environment, we aim to create a more sustainable world where animals, people, and nature can coexist and thrive together.

Education & Awareness

Education is a cornerstone of our mission. We aim to teach what we believe in:

  • Proper animal care and behavior

  • Responsible pet ownership

  • Education of animal cruelty and testing practices

  • Protecting wildlife and natural resources

  • Encouraging recycling and environmental stewardship

  • Understanding the therapeutic value of animals for humans

By spreading knowledge, we aim to create a more compassionate and informed world where these things are valued, cared for, and respected, and people understand the powerful connection that unites us all.

Human Connection & Therapy Programs

Animals have the power to heal — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We plan on creating programs that are designed to support people, particularly young girls, in building confidence, resilience, and hope.

Planned programs include:

  • Animal-Assisted Therapy: Led by licensed professionals and a certified life coach, helping participants navigate challenges such as trauma, family issues, loss, or social pressures

  • Youth Programs: Age-specific groups for pre-teens, teens, and young adults to create safe spaces for healing, friendship, and personal growth

  • Trauma-Informed Support: Focused on girls who have experienced abuse, neglect, or human trafficking. Participating in foster programs, housing foster girls and providing support to help them heal and grow.

  • Confidence & Life Skills Development: Using animals to help participants improve self-worth and coping skills, also being a safe place to escape the stress and pressures associated with daily life (home life or from school, the effects of social media, loss, stress, and bullying)

Through these programs, we aim to give both humans and animals the chance to heal and grow together.

Our Future Home

We plan to expand to a larger property that can accommodate more animals and provide specialized homes for each species, as well as to foster connections between people and animals. Features will include:

  • Designated areas specialized for a variety of different animals (common pets, farm animals, equine, wildlife)

  • Spaces for people to relax and spend time in nature, bringing people and animals together

  • We aim to create comforting enviornments where classes, workshops, and hands-on learning can take place to encourage people to grow and connect through community (of people and animals).

  • To provide a place where people can feel the love of God in his greatest creation, nature and animals

This expansion will allow us to increase the number of animals we can rescue while supporting our educational and therapy initiatives.
